The Strength of What’s Possible: Margaret Brassard, a Woman Who Transforms Through Love

Margaret Brassard is someone I met almost by chance, but whose essence—charming, intelligent, and firm in her vision—captivated me immediately. Mother, leader, and creator of memorable experiences, this is her story.

Who is Margaret Brassard?

I am the mother of two children, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. My family is my foundation and my daily school of love, patience, and strength. My faith in God guides my decisions and the way I relate to others. I consider myself a woman of service, convinced of the power of kindness and the strength of community to help us grow together.

Your story as the founder of Brassard Events is very inspiring. How did it all begin?

I have always liked bringing people together and creating moments that stay in their memories. That passion grew stronger when I worked for 13 years at The University Club in the United States, where I learned about hospitality and event planning. There came a point when I could no longer grow within that structure, and coinciding with the birth of my son, I felt the need for more flexibility and creative freedom. That’s how Brassard Events was born: from my desire to serve, design unique experiences, and connect hearts through every celebration.

In such a competitive field, what makes your work unique?

For me, events are not just parties: they are opportunities to make an impact. I combine creativity with philanthropy and mentorship. I always look for purpose behind every project, integrating an element of helping others. I also prioritize working with small businesses, especially those led by Latinos, because supporting them directly strengthens our community.

What challenges marked your journey at the beginning?

Language was one of the biggest challenges. Arriving without mastering English and without a support network was overwhelming. However, people who didn’t know me trusted me and offered mentorship and guidance. That taught me that challenges are overcome through humility to receive help and the decision not to give up. Today, that experience motivates me to be a mentor and support those who are just starting out.

In addition to Brassard Events, you founded RI Acts of Kindness. How did this initiative come about?

RI Acts of Kindness was born from my gratitude for Rhode Island and my experience as an immigrant. In very difficult moments, strangers helped me with a generosity that never made me feel less. That kindness marked my life. For more than two years, I carried this idea in my heart until I decided to turn it into a platform to amplify acts of kindness and remind others what it means to be a Good Samaritan: to lend a hand and celebrate the good around us.

What has been the most decisive moment of your life?

The day I decided to bet everything on myself. I left a stable job and a life in which I wasn’t flourishing to trust in my vision, my ability, and my passion. It was a leap into the unknown, but also an act of self-love. Since then, I walk with the certainty that I can lead, serve, and impact lives from my authenticity.

How do you balance your personal and professional life?

I see it as a work in progress. My mom always says that a woman can do everything, but not all at the same time. That’s why I organize my life with the calendar in hand and anticipate the busiest months so I don’t sacrifice quality time with my children. I also have a wonderful community that supports me—something essential when you’re an entrepreneur with young kids.

What advice would you give to little Margaret?

I would tell her to remain curious, to keep questioning what doesn’t feel right, and to never change her essence. That we’re doing well. That her passion, integrity, and way of being will be her greatest strengths.

What other projects are you working on?

I have always been passionate about fashion. Together with my friends Henrry and Maribel, we created The Archive, a marketing agency focused on emerging designers and models. We already held our first bootcamp and were present at NYFW. This project brings together my love for fashion and my experience in events, and I’m excited for everything that’s coming.
